Big Names Headlining Lollapalooza Fest

Lollapalooza Festival has announced its full lineups that in one's mind might be the best so far. Several names that hit the news headlines nowadays are included in the list such as the chart topping Modest Mouse, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Patti Smith and the British new sensation Amy Winehouse.
The three names above are only a few among other acts that will be held on August 3-5 in Chicago's Grant Park. The event especially has the honor of Pearl Jam's sole performance this year and the band's first US performance since 2000's Roskilde Festival tragedy that allowed 9 fans to be killed. The organizers of this event have made the band visiting the venue to make sure its security. After strolling around, the band was convinced and immediately said yes.

Bruce Springsteen received a standing ovation in the event dubbed "Celebrating the Music of Bruce Springsteen". He made a surprise appearance in the end of the show by singing "Rosalita" that immediately invited roars from the audience. They leaped from their seats and continued to cheer on him for the last 30 minutes.
Held on April 5 in Carnegie Hall, the event presented Bruce performing 3 songs, two of which are played acoustically. The rock and roll legend said in the middle of the show "The good news is...I'm not dead yet!" and then he made a tribute to blues singer Odetta who sang his classic "57 Channels (And Nothin' On)" earlier.

The annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction has taken place in Waldorf-Astoria Hotel on March 12. The names inducted in the ceremony are R.E.M., Van Halen, Patti Smith, Grandmaster Flash & the Furious Five and also The Ronettes.
Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder attended the event to be the inductor of R.E.M. He honored the band saying that while Pearl Jam was getting stardom, R.E.M. became like a big brother to the band. "R.E.M.'s music is truly all-encompassing. They used every color on the pallette, they invented colors on their own and they put up this huge mural of music and sound and emotion."
Patti Smith Speaks Up on "Twelve"

Patti Smith is going to have her next album, "Twelve", released via Columbia Records on April 17th later this year.
The set, as said by Smith, will carry in it her renditions of Stevie Wonder's "Pastime Paradise," Neil Young's "Helpless" and Tears for Fears' "Everybody Wants To Rule the World."

Van Halen is the latest addition to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees.
The dysfunctional rock band surely is preparing for a reunion only to join the likes of R.E.M., The Ronettes, Patti Smith, and Grandmaster Flash & the Furious Five, all of which have been selected to be inducted at the annual ceremony, to be held March 12 in New York.

Nine nominees for the 2007 induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame have been announced Monday Oct 30th. Officials for the hall of fame announced the nominations of Van Halen, R.E.M., The Ronettes, The Stooges, Grandmaster Flash & the Furious Five, Patti Smith, The Dave Clark Five, CHIC, and Joe Tex.
Those nine nominees will be sent to more than 500 voters, with the five inductees announced in January next year. They will be inducted at a March ceremony at the Waldorf Astoria in New York with all five inductees will be represented in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in Cleveland, OH.
