Video Premiere: Paramore's 'Brick by Boring Brick'
November 24, 2009 11:11:37Paramore's "Brick by Boring Brick" music video has been debuted in full. Directed by Meiert Avis, it follows a little girl as she is wandering in the fairy tale world. "Josh [Farro] and I are on the outside, in the real world, and you'll see he's a gravedigger. And I'm more like the storyteller. I'm narrating what's going on," frontwoman Hayley Williams said of the concept to MTV.
"Brick by Boring Brick" comes from Paramore's third studio installment "Brand New Eyes". On what the song is all about, Hayley said, "[It] is about not accepting reality and understanding that you don't have to make everything frilly or pretty-sounding for it to be interesting. Life doesn't have to be some grand production, and some of the boring parts of being alive are actually the greatest. The song is about breaking down those walls and finding out that the centre of it is what really matters."

Barbra Streisand Beats Mariah Carey and Paramore on Hot 200
October 08, 2009 10:10:19Neither Mariah Carey nor Paramore rules Billboard Hot 200 this week as they have lost the hot spot to Barbra Streisand. "Love Is the Answer", the latest record from the singer with the most No. 1 albums, sold 180,000 copies. Meanwhile, Paramore's "Brand New Eyes" and Mariah's "Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel" could only scan 175,000 and 168,000 units respectively.
With such number, Paramore sit at number two on the U.S. albums chart and Mariah follows at the third place. First week sale projection from Billboard actually had estimated either Paramore or Mariah could be crowned this week's champ, but both of them miss the spot. The final result is not quite a surprise as according to HITS Daily Double, Barbra had come to the second place between Paramore and Mariah per October 6.

And that's the same with every song on the record, even the ones that weren't that personal. ... But this record, I felt a lot heavier," she tells MTV.
"We'd be at practice, and I didn't even like some of the songs at first, because of my parts, because I was like, 'This isn't a feel-good song, because I'm writing about something I'm going through right now, and it's still painful,' " Hayley continues her explanation. "And I confused that with actually not liking the songs, when actually I was prouder of them than I've ever been before. They're heavier emotions for me. ... I'm still going through some of this stuff, and these songs are really healing to me."
