'Australia' Comes to New York for Premiere
November 25, 2008 02:11:47A couple of days before opening in U.S. theaters, "Australia" has held a special screening event in New York. Taking place at the Ziegfeld Theater on Monday, November 24, the premiere event saw one extravagant gala attended by many celebrities from the film's stars Hugh Jackman and Nicole Kidman to musician Moby and model Lydia Hearst.
Joining Jackman and Kidman on the red carpet were director Baz Luhrmann and co-producer Catherine Martin, as well as Kidman's husband, country singer Keith Urban. Aside from them, other celebrity guests, like Kelsey Grammer, Olivia Newton-John, Lauren Bacall, Alicia Witt, Deborra-Lee Furness, Helena Christensen, and many others, have also been spotted attending the special event.

Newton-John, 59, wed 49-year-old American entrepreneur John Easterling at her home in Malibu, California, The Daily Telegraph reported. Guests who were invited to the nuptials thought they were attending a Fourth of July Independence Day barbecue.

Olivia Newton-John filed a lawsuit Friday Dec 1st in Los Angeles County Superior court, suing Universal Music for allegedly failing to pay more than $US1 million ($A1.27 million) in royalties on sales of the "Grease" soundtrack album.
An English-born Australian singer and actress, Olivia starred in the 1978 movie version of the Broadway hit alongside actor John Travolta.

Olivia, who is inspired by the words of breast cancer survivor Maya Angelou, tries to focus on the disease with a musical version of the Pulitzer Prize-winning writer's poem "Phenomenal Woman," which becoming the lead single to her up coming album "Stronger Than Before." She recorded the song along with Beth Nielsen Chapman, Diahann Carroll, Patti LaBelle, Amy Holland, Delta Goodrem and Mindy Smith, all of whose lives have been affected by cancer.
