2008 Plug Awards Tapped Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds to Perform
February 05, 2008 11:02:57Australian rock act Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds have been hailed as the main performer at this year's Plug Awards. Joining them in the performers line-up are British Hip-Hop artist Dizzee Rascal, American instrumentalist St. Vincent, and Swedish folk singer Jose Gonzales.
Plug co-founder Gerry Hart said, "Having Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds perform at Plug has been a dream of ours since Amaechi (Uzoigwe, co-founder) and I started Plug."
Plug Awards Nominees Unveiled, Of Montreal Set for 'Battles'
November 16, 2007 09:11:14Plug Awards, the so-called Grammys for independent rock acts, have announced its nominees for the year 2008. Leading the number of nods are Of Montreal and math rock band Battles at 7 each.
The categories that they share include Album of the Year and Indie Rock Album. Just behind them at 6 gongs are Arcade Fire and French duo Justice. The latter is in for Best New Artist, competing it with Battles, Bat for Lashes and nine others.
Bloc Party to Headline Iceland Airwaves Festival

In the event that introduces new music, rising bands Bloc Party, Of Montreal and !!! are the lots that will slam Iceland Airwaves Festival's stage. The ninth year will take place in October as usual.
The event is held over 5 days course and will visit several venues throughout the Icelandic capital of Reykjavik. The three acts above are only a few among the 170 others who are planned to perform. 35 of the total have been announced and mostly are Icelandic musicians. Specific dates are yet to be announced.
