Pharrell Williams Confirms Rhea as N.E.R.D's New Member
October 07, 2009 09:10:30Rumor that N.E.R.D have a new member named Rhea has been confirmed by Pharrell Williams. "Musically, we're just somewhere else [with her]," he told MTV News. "The music is now very 3-D. It's something you have to hear."
"We're definitely somewhere else," he continued. "I want to leave that impact moment for when you purchase your download and you purchase your CD. The music is very three-dimensional. We're just really excited. We feel like N.E.R.D. has always been the punks of hip-hop and the outcasts of alternative music - just a little different. But this time, we're taking no prisoners."
N.E.R.D Reportedly Adding Female Member
August 25, 2009 04:08:50N.E.R.D have recruited a female member to their group, according to rapper Lam-Fay who is currently signed to The Neptunes' label, Star Trak Records. "Her names Rhea ... She's the new member of N.E.R.D.!! & she dope!!" Fay wrote on his Twitter.
Adding fuel to the rumor is the fact that Rhea has taken down all her MySpace pics, including a number of sexy photo shoots and red carpet snaps. As a replacement, she uploaded a N.E.R.D-inspired picture of her wearing a black tank top matched with green-framed sunglasses under the title "Rhea 2.0 : Be Prepared."
2009 BET Awards Nominations Revealed, Lil Wayne and T.I. Lead the Pack
May 13, 2009 09:05:42Nomination recipients for this year's BET Awards have been announced at "106 & Park" on May 12, and grabbing the most nods were rappers Lil Wayne and T.I.. The two musicians received five nominations each.
Among the five gongs, Weezy and T.I. are set to face off against each other in two fields, Best Male Hip-Hop Artist and Viewer's Choice. In those categories, they are joined by such contenders as Rick Ross, Kanye West, Young Jeezy, Beyonce Knowles, Keri Hilson, Soulja Boy, Rihanna and T-Pain.
N.E.R.D Pull Off Auckland Performance
January 19, 2009 04:01:21Hip-Hop act N.E.R.D, comprising of rappers Pharrell Williams, Chad Hugo and Shay Haley, will not head up to Auckland for a live concert because they have canceled the planned show. The group were supposed to perform at Auckland's Vector Arena on February 26 as part of an Australian tour.
Without further explanation, promoters Future Entertainment claim the cancellation happens "due to recording commitments." There hasn't been any statement from N.E.R.D's management team regarding the pulling-off though. Full ticket refunds for the New Zealand show are available at the point of purchase.
Video Premiere: N.E.R.D's 'Sooner or Later'
December 17, 2008 08:12:30A music video supporting N.E.R.D's song "Sooner or Later" has been debuted. According to Emmett Malloy, one of The Malloys who directed the video, "It's really about the market kinda going down and it ends in a pretty hopeful way."
Starting with scenes showing worried faces of people working in a stock market following the crashing down of the business, it also captures the band's members Pharrell Williams, Chad Hugo and Shay Haley cleaning floors and windows of the building as janitors. Nearing the end, professional skateboarder Rob Dyrdek is seen approaching them with two small paper bags full of money.
Behind-the-Scenes of N.E.R.D's 'Sooner or Later' Music Video
December 13, 2008 09:12:11A video footage providing a look into the set of N.E.R.D's music video for their new song "Sooner or Later" has arrived. From the footage, it is revealed that the music video is directed by The Malloys, the same man who helped Foo Fighters making "Breakout" music video. It is also unveiled that professional skateboarder Rob Dyrdek will be making a cameo appearance on the video.
Starting with a capture of the band's member Chad Hugo talking to the camera, the behind-the-scenes video continues to roll on with scenes showing Chad, Pharrell Williams and Shay Haley playing janitors in a stock market. Shay will be seen cleaning windows while Pharrell will be dealing with dirty floors.
N.E.R.D and Common Join Forces in 'Invincible Sounds of Summer'
September 05, 2008 01:09:15Hip hop group N.E.R.D, who are comprised rappers Pharrell Williams, Chad Hugo, and Shay Haley, are scheduled to hit the road with rap peer Common. Called "Invincible Sounds of Summer", the gigs will be kicked off in Houston on September 9 and wrap up in Miami on October 10.
According to their promoter, in the tour, N.E.R.D will sing new tunes from their third and latest record, "Seeing Sounds", which has just been released in June. Meanwhile, Common is going to bring out his forthcoming "Invincible Summer", which has been pushed back from June 24 to September 22.
N.E.R.D Share Stage With Rapper Friends
August 01, 2008 03:08:58Alternative rap band N.E.R.D which is influenced with such various genres as hip-hop, soul music, alternative rock, and blues rock, are reported to sing with their rapper friends such as Kanye West, Lupe Fiasco, and Pusha T in their new video for remixed "Everyone Nose." Commenting on the issue, lead vocalist Pharrell Williams said, "I think Pusha put the meltdown on it but I mean, I like everybody's verse because I think that Lupe killed it, Kanye killed it. Mine was more about style than how dope the rhyme was. It was really my melody that I liked more than anything-that's why my vocal approach was a little different from what you would hear me do. I wanted to just do something different that would look different on me."
Meanwhile, when asked about the concept, Pharrell said, "The concept [is based on] old '80s video-game graphics playing behind us while we're rhyming. We just want to have fun with the project. In a day and age where the record industry is what it is, I'm lucky enough to be on a label that understands and they'll just let us have fun." With four major guys united on the video, a source said that the remix is indeed a nod of nostalgia.

July 15, 2008 01:07:36Following the launching of their first clip "Everyone Nose" in May, N.E.R.D has now premiered their second music video through Yahoo! Music on July 15. The band's new video was made for their latest single "Spaz" from their new LP "Seeing Sounds".
It seems like the hip-hop act's new clip, which was shot in a black and white setting, was taken from one of their concerts. There is no special footages being inserted by the band on the clip beside showing their live performance and also their fans excitement in watching the group's performance.

The clip was directed by famous director Diane Martel who previously has worked with Mariah Carey. Beside featuring the band members, on the clip there are also some famous names appearing as cameos, such as Lindsay Lohan and Kanye West.

March 26, 2008 09:03:40Pharrell Williams, one third of Hip-Hop supergroup N.E.R.D., revealed that their upcoming album will be called "Seeing Sounds". The producer plus the other two members Shay Haley and Chad Hugo explained that there is a great meaning behind the title which was inspired by the Discovery Channel.
"It's a mixture of senses that may cause a person to experience colorful hearing, auditory smell," Shay explained to MTV News. "For example, you might see something, and it might trigger a song. You might hear something, and it might trigger a taste in your mouth. When we created this album, it was the music we envisioned while creating it. We decided it would be the appropriate title for the album."
