Kid Rock to Do 'Rock and Rebels' Tour With Lynyrd Skynyrd
May 08, 2008 02:05:17A good news was revealed by rocker Kid Rock stating that he will be back on tour soon. The singer also said that he wont be touring alone as he will team up with legendary rockers Lynyrd Skynyrd for their upcoming "Rock and Rebels" tour.
Both artists are scheduled to kick off their Rebels tour on August 8 in Oklahoma City. After that the tour will also stop by in Houston, Cincinnati, Indianapolis, Camden, N.J., Mansfield, Mass., Toronto, Holmdel, N.J. before closing in Hartford, Conn on August 31.
Michael Jackson's "Thiller" Inducted to Grammy Hall of Fame
December 21, 2007 10:12:45Michael Jackson's best selling album, "Thriller", has been announced to be one of the newest addition to the Grammy Hall of Fame by the Recording Academy on Wednesday, December 19. It was listed among the 70 recordings that will be added to the Hall of Fame, including Lynyrd Skynyrd's rock classic "Free Bird!", The Beatles' "Help!", and Willie Nelson's country hit "Always On My Mind".
"Thiller", which was released on December 1, 1982, is Jackson's sixth studio album and his most popular album. In fact, it was the record that made the King of Pop well-known. Guinness World of Records believed that it was the best selling album of all time as it said to be sold over 104 million units and is one of three albums that remained in the top 10 of Billboard 200 for one full year.
Lynyrd Skynyrd, Barenaked Ladies and Sister Hazel Get on Board

Three music groups, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Barenaked Ladies and Sister Hazel are signed to perform in the Atlanta-based cruise company Sixthman. Employing the alternative rock theme this time, the ship will set sail early next year.
The cruise which features multiple live performances, meet and greets, Q&A sessions and frequent bumps to the artists, schedules Skynyrds' cruise to sail on 10th up to 14th of Jan 2008 with destination and stop in Mexico. Marshall Tucker Band will also appear in the same cruise. Meanwhile, on the next cruise scheduled Jan 19-24, Sister Hazel is featured along Josh Kelley and other artists. Barenaked Ladies' turn will be on Jan 27 up to Feb 1 where the cruise heads to Grand Cayman and Jamaica.
Lynyrd Skynyrd's Van Zant Underwent Surgery

The frontman of music group Lynyrd Skynyrd, known as Johnny Van Zant, underwent emergency surgery to have his appendix removed on Thursday May 18th, 2006. According to the band's manager Ross Schilling, Van Zant left the operating room at Stanford University Medical Center in Palo Alto, Calif., around 10 p.m.
"He had been feeling bad the past couple of days," Schilling said while adding "He had performances Tuesday and Wednesday and sucked it up last night as far as performing with some pain." On Thursday morning Van Zant went to see a doctor, who determined through an ultrasound that the appendix was severely inflamed and emergency surgery was needed, Schilling revealed further.
Skynyrd & 3DD Pair for "Double Trouble" Tour

What will happen when Lynyrd Skynyrd and 3 Doors Down meet? "Double Trouble". Yes, the two rock bands are going to team up for a 15-date tour dubbed "Double Trouble", which begins June 24 at the Aberdeen (Md.) Proving Ground U.S. Army base.
Joining them on the jaunt is Shooter Jennings who will be on stage beginning June 25 at the Riverbend Music Center in Cincinnati. Presenting "Double Trouble" is VH1 Classic who also will tape a June 23 show in Atlantic City, N.J., at Trump Taj Mahal Hotel & Casino for later airing on the network's "Decades Rock Live" program.

Music acts Lynyrd Skynyrd and 3 Doors Down are teaming up to co-headline "Double Trouble" tour, which will begin June 25 in Cincinnati. As of Skynyrd, they are slated to close every night of the 15-date tour. Speaking on that matter, 3 Doors Down agent Ken Fermaglich told Billboard the tour is a true co-headlining effort, with equal set lengths and production values.
"Skynyrd has to close because they're in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and we're not," Fermaglich explained while continued "But it's a co-headline tour. Every night at the end of the night the two bands will join up for an all-star jam." To notice, the last show of the tour will be in Biloxi, Miss., on July 22 at the re-opening of the Mississippi Coast Coliseum, which was damaged by Hurricane Katrina.

Surely 2006 will be such an unforgettable year for Sex Pistols for the band becomes one of the inductees of The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame along with the likes of Black Sabbath, Blondie, Miles Davis, and Lynyrd Skynyrd. All of them will officially take the honor in the foundation's Twenty-First Annual Induction Ceremony slated to be held on Monday, March 13, 2006 at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel. In the Non-Performer category comes the name of Herb Alpert and Jerry Moss who both are the founder of A&M records which was established in 1962 and so will receive a Lifetime Achievement Award.
The inductees of The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame are chosen by the foundation's nominating committee which consists of rock and roll historians. Artists become eligible for induction 25 years after the release of their first record.

November 29, 2005 11:11:28Their hard work finally is paid off. It's worth somehow that after years of rejection, influential bands the Sex Pistols, Black Sabbath and Lynyrd Skynyrd are finally making it into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Two thumbs up for them.
All of them will be feted at the Rock Hall's 21st annual induction ceremony to be held at New York's famed Waldorf Astoria Hotel on March 13 next year. Joining them in the Class of 2006 are jazz legend Miles Davis and New Wave group Blondie. Meanwhile, trumpeter Herb Alpert and business partner Jerry Moss, founders of A&M Records, will be inducted as Non-performers.
Inflamed Vocal Cords Affects Skynyrd Performance
August 12, 2005 01:08:43Rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd has to reluctantly postpone their eight appearances this month because lead singer Johnny Van Zant has inflamed vocal cords. A statement posted Thursday on the band's Web site said Van Zant has been ordered by doctors to rest his voice.
The delayed shows include a Thursday concert in Chillicothe, Ohio; Friday in Sedalia, Mo; Saturday in Springfield, Ill.; August 16 in Sevierville, Tenn.; August 18 in Dallas; August 19 in Beaumont, Texas; August 20 in Woodlands, Texas; and August 21 in Stillwater, Okla.
