Klaxons Rule Out Festivals for 2nd Album's Sake
March 08, 2008 10:03:10Following their Nationwide Mercury Prize and Shockwaves NME wins, Klaxons may be the biggest act people expect to see on live shows. However, the four-piece have rejected the very idea of appearing in festivals to concentrate on their sophomore album.
"We're doing one in Brazil, apart from that, literally, we're just going to spend the time writing and recording," said keyboardist James Righton. "From now until October we're just going to be writing and recording the album."
Klaxons Planning Further Collaborations With Rihanna
February 22, 2008 02:02:17Liking her duet with rock band Klaxons at recent BRIT Awards performance, Rihanna has uttered her willingness to release the version as a single. The unlikely duet resulted in a mix of Rihanna's "Umbrella" which new arrangement was done by the band.
"It's a different tempo and everything," Rihanna told 6music, "But I actually want to release a version like that. Maybe the same version. I really, really liked it." Interestingly, few days before the performance, Klaxons' frontman James Righton revealed that Rihanna's people kept sending the versions that they offered back because they were not suitable.

The Barbadian singer celebrated her 20th birthday partying with friends at Los Angeles' Les Deux nightclub on Tuesday night, February 19 during which she involved in a cupcake fight.
Rihanna along with celebrity pals, including Kanye West, Wilmer Valderrama, and Chris Brown were all enjoying the party when "There was cupcake frosting all over Rihanna's face and the group was hysterically laughing to the point of almost tears!" a source in the know revealed.
Klaxons Teaming Up With Rihanna for 2008 BRITs

British band Klaxons have revealed that they will team up with U.S. R'n'B singer Rihanna for a one-off special at the event held February 20 despite them being in different continents.
Frontman James Righton did admit some difficulties resulting from the long distance rehearsal. "It's been a bit of a funny one because she's in America and we're over here," he said. "They've got this funny idea of what our band sounds like and we've done three or four different versions. Her people kept sending versions back going 'No, this sounds more like you'. It's strange when someone thinks they're better at being you than you are!"

Meanwhile Amy Winehouse stays powerful despite her personal ordeal, pocketing 4 nominations, two in the music field and others in the non-music category.
The Monkeys are vying for the categories Best British Band, Best Live Band, Best Album, Best Track, Best Video and Best Video Album Artwork, while lead singer Alex Turner is running solo for Best Dressed award. On the other side, Winehouse has been nominated for Villain of the Year alongside U.S. president George W. Bush, British Prime Ministers Tony Blair and Gordon Brown and Razorlight's frontman Johnny Borrell.

MTVU annual award show, Woodie, has announced its nominees with The Shins on the lead. The indie rock group are up for three categories 'Alumni Woodie', 'Viral Woodie' and the prestigious 'Woodie of the Year' . For the latter, they will compete against Amy Winehouse, Common, Gym Class Heroes and Lily Allen.
Further down the list, Modest Mouse, Gym Class Heroes, Allen, Justice, Linkin Park, and The Academy Is... take two nominations each, while others such as Arcade Fire, Lil Wayne, Bright Eyes, The Knife, Klaxons, M.I.A., Spoon, Cansei de Ser Sexy, The Rapture, TV on the Radio, Thom Yorke and Paramore get their fair share of one nomination each.
Q Awards Nominee Klaxons Laid Out Worldwide Tour

Nationwide Mercury Prize winner this year, Klaxons, will head to a worldwide tour starting September 23 in Boston, M.A. The jaunt will also take them to Australia in mid October and some European cities such as Paris, Munich and London in November throughout December.
In between the tour, the psychedelic pop band is expected to slip in a date to attend Q Awards which they are nominated in. The British award event put Klaxons alongside The Enemy, Cherry Ghost, The Pigeon Detectives and The View to compete against each other for Best New Act. Two surprises came out at 2007 Nationwide Mercury Prize event last night (September 4). Klaxons beat the favored winners Arctic Monkeys and Amy Winehouse while the latter ended her series of cancellation by appearing and performing at the event.
The award was given to Klaxons in London in appreciation for their debut album 'Myths of the Near Future' (2007). Member Jaime Reynolds admitted dropping few tears while claiming the honor. He said, "I've just been sitting here having the worst two hours of my entire life. It just means so much to us."

Indie band Klaxons has turned Justin Timberlake's Grammy award winning hit "My Love" into their version. The cover will be released in U.K on June 25 as the additional track for their new single "It's Not Over Yet".
"It's Not Over Yet" is the latest single pulled out from the three-piece band's album "Myths of the Near Future" and is another cover of DJ Paul Oakenfold's 1995 single.

British act Klaxons is shifting gear in the sophomore effort. Guitarist Simon Taylor hinted that their new sound would be "prog".
Releasing the debut album in January, the three-piece band is back to writing mode for the second one. Within the process, the band discovers that there is a new vibe coming out of the way. "We've written the opener of the next album. We're thinking of making a prog album - like a huge tribal prog album. We've all been listening to bands in England like Caravan, so we're definitely making a big, prog album," Taylor said.

Pitchfork Music festival bloats its lineup through the addition of Klaxons, Fujiya & Miyagi and Deerhunter. The three acts will join several others that have been announced earlier to slam the stage of Chicago's Union Park.
The event that takes place July 13-15 presents rising bands such as Menomena, Beach House and Oxford Collapse. They will support the headliner Sonic Youth that plans to deliver a special performance from their 1988 album "Daydream Nation". Previously announced lineups include Stephen Malkmus, Of Montreal, Cat Power and Iron & Wine.

Already featured by rollingstone.com as one of 10 artists to watch for in 2007, Amy Winehouse is making it true. She will begin touring in North America on April 26 with the first stop in San Francisco.
In this small leg of tour, other English musicians such as Kaiser Chiefs and Klaxons will accompany her. This tour is held mainly to support her album "Back to Black" that sat at #7 in Billboard 200 on March 22.
