In a confirming statement issued on behalf of the couple on Monday, November 2, it was stated "It is with regret that Jamelia and Darren Byfield today confirm they are splitting up and getting a divorce. No-one else is involved. Their priority is naturally their two children."
Jamelia and Darren Byfield had been dating on and off before they tied the knot in an intimate wedding ceremony at the Eastland Estate in West Sussex in June 2008. The R 'n' B singer and the football player are parents to a four-year-old daughter Tiani. Jamelia also has another daughter, named Teja, from a previous relationship.

Only a select group of family members and close friends who were invited into the wedding. Jamelia could be seen wearing a beautiful white dress, with full fishtail skirt and flattering v-neck. She carried a blue and white bouquet, which was meant as a tribute to Byfield's former football club Millwall.

Jamelia, "went to New York to record her album and missed him. So when she got home she said 'what are we waiting for?' and brought it all forward," a source told the Mirror. Revealed to the publication that she's planning the wedding herself and has made plans for the details, including that of 10 bridesmaids, the venue and catering, Jamelia however has yet found the gown. "I haven't found a dress yet. I have an idea what I want but I haven't found the one," so she said.

The singer-actress is invading the big screen, about to take off her clothes in front of the camera for a new film.
"I've been offered two film roles and a part on the West End stage," Jamelia was quoted as telling The Sun. "In one of the movies I play a stripper. I'm not getting a stunt double for it. I had one for one of my videos when I was writhing around on the bed. But everyone thought it was me anyway so I thought I may as well do it myself."

There was an announcement on April 23 that R&B star Jamelia has parted ways with her label, Parlophone/EMI. Though she refused to comment further, it was known that the British singer was unhappy with the way the recording house managed her career.
Speaking on this matter Jamelia preferred diplomatic answer. "It's not true that my record deal with EMI finishes today," she said. "I'm not really allowed to speak about it because I'm still under contract with EMI." On the same day the label made a statement that the break up was true and that the contract expired that day.

Jamelia poses nude. Not for "commercial purpose" but the R&B singer intended to pose nude for an ad campaign to support anti-fur organization PETA.
"The reason I decided to bare all for PETA was because I was educated about the inhumane ways animals used for their fur are treated, and I think it's disgusting," the singer said while went on adding, "I think if you have a heart, then you just wouldn't wear fur."

Pop star Jamelia underwent a hernia operation this week after collapsing in Spain. The British R&B star "doubled up in pain" while on set for a Spanish music program in Madrid on Thursday Nov 23rd.
It was like 'a bus had hit her stomach', Jamelia told her manager Jonathan Shalit. Jamelia then flew back to Britain and on Friday night Nov 24th had micro surgery at St Mary's Hospital in Paddington, West London, for an umbilical hernia, which is related to the aftereffects of having children.
