Iggy Pop to Perform for Madonna at Hall of Fame Induction
March 04, 2008 10:03:13Having Justin Timberlake to induct her to Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Madonna is treated with other forms of tribute. Iggy Pop and the reunited The Stooges will perform during her induction ceremony which will be held next week on March 10 at Waldorf-Astoria Hotel.
Pop who is the lead vocal of The Stooges, has been known to be Madonna's opening act at the Dublin date during her Reinvention Tour in 2004. He reportedly has agreed to perform the punked up versions of her hits as a tribute. Meanwhile, both The Stooges and Madonna are Detroit natives.
T.I. Among the Many Artists Designing Custom Line T-Shirts for Playboy

The rap icon is one among the many other artists giving hand to participate in the second annual Rock the Rabbit Program.
Having seen a number of other famous music figures, including the likes of Duran Duran, Daft Punk, Ghostland Observatory, Hot Chip, Iggy Pop, and Jamie T, place their own personal design around Playboy's famous Rabbit Head, T.I. has his limited edition Rock the Rabbit custom designed T-shirts emblazoned with the words "T.I. vs. T.I.P." with the famous bunny logo and a crown are used as the dots on the "I"s. "T.I. vs. T.I.P." actually is directed from the title of T.I.'s latest effort of the same name.

Ready to give major contribution for the flick, Sean Penn and Iggy Pop have both enlisted themselves in the voice cast of the English-language version of "Persepolis", Sony Picture Classics' animated feature adapted from the Marjane Satrapi autobiographical, bestselling graphic novel.
Joining the already-announced Gena Rowlands and Catherine Deneuve also Deneuve's daughter Chiara Mastroianni who is set to reprise her part in voicing the lead character of Satrapi, Penn reportedly will fill in the voice of Satrapi's long-suffering father while Pop that of the young girl's rebellious and politically active uncle.
David Bowie, R.E.M. in Soundtrack of Kurt Cobain's Biopic

A soundtrack to biopic "Kurt Cobain About a Son" features songs from R.E.M., The Vaselines, Iggy Pop and David Bowie, some musicians in great influence to Kurt. The compilation, which also receives a composition by Death Cab for Cutie's Ben Gibbard, will be distributed via Barsuk on September 11.
The soundtrack is the following of the film that has gone premiere in 2006 Toronto International Film Festival. Containing Kurt's previously unreleased audiotaped interviews, the 96 minutes film will also be released on theaters and in DVD version in the fourth quarter of this year.
Iggy Pop Holds Free Gig for Children

Issue of children is apparently the main concern for Iggy Pop and his newly reunited band The Stooges. Together they will play a charity show called "Rock the House Live" in benefit of Children's Society on August 31.
The show that is held in Leed's Harewood House will also feature Scottish rock band Idlewild, British garage rock band The Horrors and also Leed's very own indie band The Sunshine Underground. No fee will be extracted from this gig and Iggy is actually the mastermind of this gig idea. "I'm getting a big kick out of making music for the Children's Society," he said. "All kids deserve a good childhood."

Nabbing a great challenge in his bright career, Elijah Wood has snatched a coveted part to play legendary rocker Iggy Pop in "The Passenger", a biopic of the music artist that Ted Hope's This Is That Productions and Traction Media are executive producing.
Chronicles Pop's early years with his band The Stooges, pic reportedly is budgeted between $6 million-$8 million with Pop already "given his blessing" to it though he won't take any part in.

Pulp's Jarvis Cocker who acts as this year's Meltdown festival artistic director has succeeded convincing legends to appear at the event. Among people infused to appear are Motorhead, Melanie Safka, Devo, The Jesus and Mary Chain, Iggy Pop and The Stooges.
Motorhead will get a head start in the kick off gig on June 16 at Royal Festival Hall together with Melanie. For the latter, this would be her first British gig in 30 years. Devo will get its turn on June 19 while The Stooges and The Jesus and Mary Chain will be playing June 20 and 21 respectively.

Kelly Clarkson is readying herself to give fans something great and different with her next LP. The American Idol is teaming up with The Stooges bassist Mike Watt and Iggy Pop for her next album.
On her collaboration with the bassist, Clarkson said, she brought him in to add "fuzz bass, fills and solos" as well as "just making things fatter".

Members of The Stooges, including Iggy Pop, Ron Asheton, Scott Asheton and Steve Mackay, have announced the release date of "The Weirdness," their first album together since 1973's "Raw Power." The set will touch the market on March 20th next year.
Working together with all those original line up of the band to support the new LP is ex-Minutemen bassist Mike Watt who is taking the place of founding bassist Dave Alexander who died in 1975, and legendary producer Steve Albini.

It's been more than three decades that The Stooges broke up. But it is still possible for the band to reunite with punk icon Iggy Pop. To bring the reunion into life, both sides are making a reunion record.
The as-yet-untitled set reportedly is due out next year via Virgin and will be produced by Steve Albini. In addition, it will also feature several tracks produced by Jack White.
