'Up in the Air' Is Champion of 2009 National Board of Review
December 04, 2009 10:12:10The winners of 2009 National Board of Review have been announced on Thursday, December 3, revealing the domination of "Up in the Air". The drama comedy becomes the big winner as it manages to grab four prizes, including Best Film award.
The film also aids George Clooney to get the Best Actor title, which he shares with "Invictus" actor Morgan Freeman. Additionally, "Up in the Air" brings recognition to its star Anna Kendrick who wins Best Supporting Actress, as well as gives Best Adapted Screenplay award for screenwriters Jason Reitman and Sheldon Turner.
'Nine' Dominates 14th Satellite Awards Movie Nominations

Receiving the most nods was "Fish Tank", an Andrea Arnold's drama that won the Jury Prize at the 62nd Cannes Film Festival.
The movie revolving around the turbulent relationship a 15-year-old girl has with her mother and her new boyfriend has collected 8 nominations in total. Vying for the major categories including best British film, best director and best screenplay, it also placed its leading actress Katie Jarvis in competition for best actress and most promising newcomers.

Upon the announcement of the awards' nominees on Tuesday, December 2, it has been revealed that those three films have collected six counts each.
From all of the nominations "Rachel", "Frozen" and "Ballast" received, the three will have to go head-to-head for best feature title along with "Wendy and Lucy" and "The Wrestler". Their directors, Jonathan Demme, Courtney Hunt and Lance Hammer, will also compete for the best director prize which also lists Ramin Bahrani of "Chop Shop" and Tom McCarthy of "The Visitor" as the competitors.

It begins with the November 7th elections, follows the slew of controversial court challenges and recounts and culminates with the December 12th Supreme Court ruling that effectively handed George W. Bush the presidency.

Elevating the high-profile status of "The Incredible Hulk" a notch higher, Oscar winner William Hurt has given his commitment to join in the cast of the superhero flick, The Hollywood Reporter has revealed.
Already lined up Edward Norton, Liv Tyler, and Tim Roth, the highly-anticipated project finds Bruce Banner/Hulk on the run as he is trying to avoid capture long enough to cure the condition that turns him into a monster. Hurt is said to portray Gen. Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross, the man who has dedicated his life to capturing the Hulk and the father of Banner's love interest, Betty Ross, played by Tyler.

The cast list of "Fourth Installment of the Indiana Jones Adventures" is getting longer by now as the project's filmmakers have delightfully added Oscar nominee John Hurt to join the already starry lineup consisting of Harrison Ford, Cate Blanchett, Ray Winstone, and Shia LaBeouf, an official press release stated.
The next installment of the hit adventure franchise after 1989's "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade", the picture marks the return of prominent filmmaker Steven Spielberg to the director's chair with George Lucas once more executive producing alongside Kathleen Kennedy. Shooting is due to begin June 18 this year using several locations globally, including New Haven, Connecticut and Los Angeles.

Getting very close to the filming start date, director Guillermo del Toro has delightfully opened up the casting choices for his "Hellboy 2: The Golden Army" posted at the official fan-site of the guy, Del Toro Films .
While stating the character of John Myers won't return in the flick, del Toro confirmed that John Hurt would once again appear as a cameo with Anna Walton, Luke Goss, and Roy Dotrice playing Princess Nuala, Prince Nuada, and King Balor, respectively. Added to the lineup is John Alexander who will show up as Johann, whose voice will be provided by Thomas Kretschmann instead.

It's been quite a long time since "The Un-Dead" was announced to be the next project of Atchity Entertainment and now, words are circulating that director and cast for the horror flick have already been found.
Source to Blackfilm revealed that Newark-born filmmaker Ernest Dickerson has been appointed to fill in the helmer's seat with Javier Bardem, Monica Bellucci, and John Hurt negotiating to star in. The site further reported that the three are aiming to land the role of Dracula, Lucy, and Professor Van Helsing, respectively.

Here it comes Alice in Chains. The music act is back on the road, revealing 40 planned schedules for North American Fall tour that will get underway September 22 in Las Vegas and run through November 26 in San Francisco, with additional dates being added over the next few weeks.

The film is a project based on Ethan Canin's adaptation of his short story titled "Batorsag & Szerelem," from his anthology "The Palace Thief." Former NBA All-Star Reggie Miller of Baby Boom Prods will serve as its executive producer.
"Beautiful Ohio" will star William Hurt, who is joined by the like of Rita Wilson, Julianna Margulies and Michelle Trachtenberg. The story of the film centers on a teenager, played by newcomer Brett Davern, who feels he is in the shadow of his idealized older brother, played by David Call. Wilson and Hurt play the boys' parents, with Margulies cast as a seductive next door neighbor and Trachtenberg as Call's girlfriend.
