January 23, 2009 09:01:39On Thursday morning, January 22, Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences have unveiled to the world their selection of nominees for the 81st Annual Academy Awards. Announced by Academy president Sid Ganis and Academy Award-winner Forest Whitaker at the Academy's Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills, the nominations were dominated by "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button".
Having been shunned away from any kudos at the 66th Golden Globe Awards, the David Fincher's drama has picked up 13 nods, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Supporting Actress for Taraji P. Henson and Best Leading Actor for Brad Pitt. The movie about a man born in his eighties has landed a Best Original Score nomination for composer Alexandre Desplat, and received seven gongs for technical categories as well.
BAFTA Awards Unveil 2009 Nominees
January 15, 2009 04:01:07Nominees of the 2009 Orange British Academy Film Awards a.k.a. BAFTA Awards have been announced on Thursday, January 15. Through the announcement, it has been revealed that "Slumdog Millionaire" and "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" have dominated the awards as they each collected eleven counts, including nomination for Best Film.
Beside Best Film, "Slumdog" was also up for Outstanding British Film, Best Director, Leading Actor for Dev Patel and Supporting Actress for Freida Pinto amongst other categories. Meanwhile, the nominations for "Benjamin Button" included Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Actor for Brad Pitt.

December 19, 2008 09:12:44Announcing their nominees selection for the 15th Annual SAG Awards on Thursday, December 18, Screen Actors Guild embraced "Doubt", giving the John Patrick Shanley's drama the most nominations. In the announcement made by Angela Bassett and Eric McCormack, it was revealed that the movie received five counts, including nod for outstanding performance by a motion picture cast.
For the cast ensemble title, "Doubt" will have to face tough contenders, "Frost/Nixon", "Milk", "Slumdog Millionaire" and "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button". Beside the cast ensemble category, the movie about sexual and religious power struggles at a Bronx Catholic school in 1964 has also secured nominations for each of its major cast member, Meryl Streep for leading actress category, and Philip Seymour Hoffman, Amy Adams and Viola Davis for the supporting actor and actress categories.
Winners Announced for the 2007 BFSC Awards
December 10, 2007 05:12:35Joining other film critics organization in revealing the best works in film industry, the Boston Society of Film Critics has picked up acclaimed big screen titles and names to be the honorees of its BSFC Awards this year.
For the Best Picture, the group turned out to have the same taste as National Board of Review and Washington D.C. Area Film Critics Association did, giving the title to Coen Brothers-directed "No Country for Old Men." Furthermore, it also deemed star Javier Bardem the Best Supporting Actor for his role as Anton Chigurh.
The 2008 Spirit Awards Nominations Revealed

Film Independent as the organization holding the annual event announced Tuesday morning (Nov. 27) the lineup of nominees for the prizes at West Hollywood's Softel Hotel, represented by Lisa Kudrow and Zach Braff.
Squeaking ahead of the pack, currently-showing "I'm Not There" gloriously nabs four nominations plus the inaugural Robert Altman Award, notably that of Best Feature. To win the top honor, however, pic has to compete against "Juno" and "The Diving Bell and the Butterfly" which also receive four nods each apart from other contenders of "A Mighty Heart" and "Paranoid Park."
Two Lined Up for "Frost/Nixon"

Looks like there will be much similarities between "Frost/Nixon" and the Peter Morgan play it is based on apart from the story, if deals are finally inked.
Reports coming to the surface have informed that two cast members from the original namely Frank Langella and Michael Sheen are currently involved in negotiations to reprise their stage role on the big screen version. Both Langella and Sheen received positive reviews from critics for their performance as former U.S. president Richard Nixon and TV presenter David Frost, respectively, during the premiere of the play at London's Donmar Warehouse theatre last year.

Stars to Start the Things Out in the Evening
January 27, 2006 01:01:23A line of cast for the upcoming drama "Starting out in the Evening" has been revealed. Among the names mentioned, Frank Langella and Lauren Ambrose are the two names slated to topline the film. Also there is Adrian Lester who's about to star in as well.
Based on the novel by Brian Morton, the film was adapted by Andrew Wagner with Fred Parnes and will have Gary Winick, Jake Abraham, and Nancy Israel to produce. Gives hand at executive producing is Cinetic Media head John Sloss, while Wagner will direct.
