The former TV icon, notwithstanding with his death in January 2005 at 79, is being remembered and saluted by nowadays younger generation and has been picked to top the No. 1 spot on the list of "The 50 Greatest TV Icons," compiled by cable's TV Land and the writers of Entertainment Weekly magazine.

Television/music personality missed it last year, but this time he is available to celebrate the significant moment. The New Year. After recovering from a stroke he suffered in early December 2004, Clark is set to be in New York's Times Square to host "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve" Dec. 31 on ABC.

Joining him on the show is New York "American Idol" host . Apart from both, the show will perform its main performer, which is teen star . The singer/actress will handle Hollywood party segments of the 34th annual special. Also she will perform three songs during the broadcast, which will feature a host of as-yet-unannounced performers.

really is a tough man. One year after he's been recovering at his Malibu home from a December 6, 2004, stroke, now ''He's doing really well. He's walking. He's talking. He's living a fairly normal life," Clark's publicist Paul Shefrin said.

As he's getting better, Clark has been tapped to cohost the 34th edition of ''Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve" live from New York's Times Square on December 31. Paired with him is ''American Idol" host, , who has agreed to a multiyear deal to executive produce and co-host.

Dick Clark (75), the American Bandstand icon, has returned to his Malibu home after his seven weeks minor stroke treatment in a Burbank hospital.

Trying hard to recover from what was described as a minor stroke, Clark was very touched and grateful for the many cards and letters he received during his hospitalized, which among others came from people and fans on the streets of New York. Besides, he also thanked for the best wishes expression video shown up John Travolta, Janet Jackson, Madonna and many other celebrities.
