Denzel Washington Back for 'Unstoppable'
July 23, 2009 05:07:12Two weeks after formally stating his withdrawal from "Unstoppable", Denzel Washington is coming back to join the 20th Century Fox's drama. On Wednesday, July 22, Variety reported that the two-time Academy Award-winner and the studio have closed the deal which makes the project back on its track.
Back on July 14, the publication came up with a story that Washington decided to let go of his attachment to the movie project. Rumors at that time suggested the actor left the project because the studio tried to cut down their budget which resulted in them asking him to shave some of his fee. Following Washington's withdrawal, the studio allegedly prepared a new offer with hope that he might reconsider his decision of leaving the movie project.
Denzel Washington Out From 'Unstoppable'

According to an insider close to Washington, the actor decided that he won't join the cast after waiting for almost three months while the studio is still trying to set a budget and a start date.
Washington might leave the movie project because the studio tried to cut the $100 million budget to $90 million which resulted in them asking the two-time Oscar winner to shave $4 million of his $20 million fee. The "The Taking of Pelham 123" actor turned down the request and decided to seek other projects for the fall.

Opened with clips showing a busy day in New York City, the trailer displays a sea of people crowding the street and doing their errands. Then comes John Travolta's Ryder. Making his way to a subway station, he quickly boards a train and hijacks it. The footage moves to Garber in the subway's headquarter.

The video footage then cuts to present criminal mastermind Ryder, who is portrayed by John Travolta. Walking into a crowded subway station, Ryder quickly points his gun at Pelham 123's train operator and takes over the train. Soon after, he reveals to Garber that in exchange for the passengers he takes as hostages, he wants a large ransom that has to be paid within one hour. Under pressure to save the hostages, Garber uses his vast knowledge of the subway system in a battle to outwit Ryder.

Looks like three is still far from enough for both Denzel Washington and Tony Scott. Report from Daily Variety has brought in info that the two are going to work together once again in "The Taking of Pelham 1, 2, 3" for Columbia Pictures.
Project turns out to be a remake of the 1974 action thriller which was based on the novel by Morton Freedgood who wrote it under the pseudonym John Godey. The original story centers on a New York Transit cop sent to stop a group of terrorists hijacking a subway car for a million dollar ransom. Washington is said to get billed as the cop, played by Walter Matthau in the original.

Still eager to keep going into producing thing, Oscar-winning actor Denzel Washington is on duty to produce a film feature entitled "Journal for Jordan", based on a first-person essay published in January in the New York Times of which rights the Escape Artists has secured.
The essay, written by Dana Canedy, describes a 200-page journal made by her fiance, First Sgt. Charles Monroe King who was perished in Baghdad only one month shy of finishing his tour of duty. It contains words of wisdom for their son about how to live a proper life and to prepare him for a life without his father. King himself never got the chance to meet his own child since he had left for the Middle East before he was born.

The Hollywood hunk has been chosen the No. 1 America's Favorite Movie Star in the nationwide Harris Poll of 1,147 U.S. adults surveyed online by Harris Interactive between December 12 and 18, 2006.
