Dave Matthews Band Give Away New Single From Upcoming Album

Starting on April 14, when they kick off their summer tour, until a week ahead, they give fans a chance to download for free "Funny the Way It Is", the first single off their upcoming album "Big Whiskey and the Groogrux King".
"It's a pretty song and it talks about a lot of things," vocalist/guitarist Dave Matthews says of the new single. "[It's about] death and love and all those things ... but it also talks about the world of opposites that we are in."
Black Eyed Peas, Jonas Brothers and More Tapped for NBC's 'Today' Concert Series
April 03, 2009 11:04:23Black Eyed Peas and Jonas Brothers are among big groups recruited to entertain concertgoers at 2009 "Toyota Concert Series on Today". will.i.am and friends will be singing on June 12, while the Jonas boys are set to perform on June 19.
Other performers include No Doubt, Jennifer Hudson, Flo Rida, Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, The All-American Rejects and many more. The Gwen Stefani-fronted band will kick off the annual concert series on May 1, while the others will be making a live appearance on the following days.
LeRoi Moore, Dave Matthews Band Saxophonist, Dies
August 20, 2008 09:08:26Rock band Dave Matthews Band is mourning the death of its saxophonist LeRoi Moore. The 46-year-old man died at Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center in L.A. Tuesday afternoon, August 19 reportedly from sudden complications stemming from an ATV accident he had in June on his farm near Charlottesville, Virginia.
The accident that happened on June 30 forced Moore to be transported to UVa Medical Center. He had since been released, but was readmitted last month due to complications. He was said to have a punctured lung and broken ribs from the accident.
Musicians Paying Tribute to Virginia Tech Victims

A number of musicians are paying tribute to the late victims of Virginia Tech incident. Those slated to perform at the University's Lane Stadium are John Mayer, Dave Matthews Band, Virginia-born country singer Phil Vassar and rapper Nas.
"We have a profound respect for the incredible resolve and unwavering sense of hope the university community has shown, and are honored to have the opportunity to share this evening with Virginia Tech," said Dave Matthews Band's drummer Carter Beauford.

No summer like Dave Matthews Band's summer. The rock band is back for the annual summer gigs that start July 8 at Toyota Park, Bridgeview, IL and run through October 2 at the double nightstand venue Hollywood Bowl, Los Angeles, CA.
A line of performers consisting of The Roots, Guster, Stephen Marley, Xavier Rudd, Toots & the Maytals, Umphrey's McGee, Robert Randolph & the Family Band, The Wailers, Robert Earl Keen Jr. and Pete Yorn will support the band in the 36-dates trek.

"Now That's What I Call Music! 23", the latest hits compilation boasting tracks from Stacy Ferguson, Justin Timberlake, Nelly Furtado, Christina Aguilera, Jessica Simpson, and Nickelback just to name a few, debuts at No. 1 on the US pop album charts Wednesday November 15th. The Sony-distributed set sold 337,000 units during the week ended November 12, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
Classical pop singer Josh Groban's latest LP, "Awake" opens at number 2 with 270,000 units. Following behind at the 3rd spot is country crooner Keith Urban, who is now still in rehab, whose latest effort "Love, Pain & the Whole Crazy Thing" sold 270,000 copies. Another popular country act, Sugarland lands at number 4 with its second album "Enjoy The Ride" selling nearly 211,000 discs during its first week in stores.

Irish rock band U2 known either for its music or social and political deeds has scored another record. The music group's "Vertigo" tour has been chosen as the Top-Grossing Trek of 2005, according to year-end figures set to be published Friday in Billboard magazine. Sold $260 million worth of tickets and drew more than 3 million people to 90 concerts, U2 really deserves to be on the top.
Comes at 2nd is Eagles, whose 77 shows earned them $117 million. Neil Diamond is at 3rd with more than $71 million, followed by Kenny Chesney at No. 4 with $63 million. Others rounding out the Top 10 in succession are Paul McCartney, Rod Stewart, Elton John, Dave Matthews Band, Jimmy Buffett and Green Day.
Weekend on the Rocks with Dave Matthews Band
November 01, 2005 01:11:02Music group Dave Matthews Band is reported to release their September 9-12 stand at Colorado's famed Red Rocks Amphitheater, which included a benefit that raised $1.5 million for hurricane victims, in a CD/DVD/digital extravaganza. The set, will be commercially available beginning November 29 in a variety of formats.
The first one is that of "Weekend on the Rocks" which is a two-CD/one-DVD package comprised of highlights from the shows. Meanwhile, the other one is "The Complete Weekend on the Rocks" featuring all four performances on eight physical CDs and a DVD or via digital download. What's more is that those who pre-order the items via DMB's official store (http://www.dmband.com) will be entered to win a Red Rocks poster personalized and autographed by Matthews. Ten runners-up will receive autographed copies of the nine-disc "Weekend."
Dave Matthews & Friends Sail in Bahamas
October 20, 2005 02:10:47They will never stop no matter what happen. Amidst their hectic schedule, Dave Matthews Band is set to begin a February concert in the Bahamas as part of the Dave Matthews & Friends Caribbean Cruise Getaway.
During the three-night cruise, fans will overtake the Royal Caribbean cruise ships the Majesty of the Seas and the Sovereign of the Seas from February 3-6. The ships will set sail from Miami and Port Canaveral and will converge to sail together through the Atlantic.

September 26, 2005 09:09:25Won't waste time, the fresh off the road from another summer outing, Dave Matthews Band is heading out this fall to do another tour, begun November 26 in Minneapolis and run through December 15 in Boston. Soulive, Gavin DeGraw and former Soul Coughing frontman Mike Doughty are all slated to open on the band's fall/winter tour.
Tickets for the shows will go on sale October 7, but members of the band's official fan club, the Warehouse, could buy started on Thursday evening through a special online presale. When they're done with the tour, the band would likely return to the studio with producer Mark Batson as RCA recently said it will issue a live set before the end of the year.
Dave Does Care For Katrina

The music band is about to hold a Sept. 12 concert at Red Rocks Amphitheatre, with all profits to go to charities supporting the storm victims.
The band added the benefit show to its sold-out Sept. 9-11 stint at the amphitheater, yet it hasn't been decided which charities will benefit from the show. "The amount of generosity from around the country I'm sure is staggering right now from people just giving what they can. We're just getting in line behind those people, getting in line a long way behind the Red Cross or National Guard, but we all have to do a little bit," so said the band to The Associated Press.
DMB "Stands Up" on Album Sales Charts

This achievement marks the fourth week in a row an album with DualDisc technology, such "Stand Up," has debuted at the top of the charts. While the band does so, last week's No. 1 Nine Inch Nails falls to No. 5, with 89,000 copies sold of "With Teeth."
Weezer, whose "Make Believe" sold an estimated 193,000 copies for the week ending Sunday, comes at number 2. At the 3rd position is Mariah Carey's "The Emancipation of Mimi" with 173,000 copies sold. Coming in fourth is 50 Cent's "The Massacre" which is sold 90,000 copies. Country singer Dierks Bentley, in addition, debuted at No. 6 with 75,000 copies of "Modern Day Drifter."
Dave Matthews Performing a Concert on the Web

The group is going to celebrate the Tuesday release of their latest album, "Stand Up," by performing at the club Roseland on Monday night, a concert that will be broadcast live on the Web by AOL.
To note, the concert held at Roseland is part of a continuing series of concerts put on by AOL. As their another attempt to promote the album, the Dave Matthews Band will next tour the nation during the summer.
Dave Matthews Band Settles Bus Waste Lawsuit
April 30, 2005 09:04:53The Dave Matthews Band, responsible for dumping human waste from a tour bus onto the open deck of an architectural tour boat carrying more than 100 passengers touring the Chicago River, has made an agreement with Attorney General Lisa Madigan to end the case. By means of which, the band has agreed to pay $200,000 to an environmental fund and take measures to avoid a repeat of the incident by recording when and where its tour buses empty septic tanks.
The agreement does not settle several personal-injury lawsuits that also have been filed, since there were no reports that anyone developed infections or diseases. Yet, the band had already donated $50,000 to Friends of the Chicago River and $50,000 to the Chicago Park District.
