Carlos Santana, Daddy Yankee to Be Honored at 2009 Billboard Latin Music Awards
March 13, 2009 11:03:45Mexican rock musician/guitarist Carlos Santana and Puerto Rican reggaeton recording artist Daddy Yankee are among those to be honored at this year's Billboard Latin Music Awards. The two musicians are confirmed to be handed with special discretionary awards by Billboard.
Carlos, who is the founder of band Santana, will be given Lifetime Achievement Award for his contributions in expanding the reach of Latin music worldwide. And, Daddy will receive Spirit of Hope Award for his humanitarian work of rehabilitating youthful offenders and providing basic services to underprivileged youth through his Corazon Guerrero Foundation.
Video Premiere: Daddy Yankee's 'Pose'
June 26, 2008 02:06:05Daddy Yankee's new music video for his latest single in the promo for the reggae singer's upcoming LP "Talento de Barrio" has just been premiered on June 25. The new clip was made to accompany Daddy's third single "Pose" from his upcoming LP.
The clip sees Daddy partying at club, singing and dancing with lots of sexy girls in a very dark background. Beside the female models, the video also feature a special cameo appearance from a famous dance crew JabbaWockeeZ, that was seen doing some of their cool dance moves in some parts in the video.
2008 Billboard Latin Awards Winners Unveiled!

The reggaeton's win is not particularly dominating for more than five other acts also received two wins at the event broadcast live by Telemundo from Miami. Juan Luis Guerra, in particular, received a single honor for Producer of the Year plus two others that he shared with his band 440.
Beside Yankee, others taking double trophies are Gloria Estefan; urban bachata group Aventura; Mexican singer Valentin Elizalde; duranguense group Alfredo Ramirez y Los Creadorez del Pasito Duranguense; reggaeton duo R.K.M. & Ken-Y; and new pop acts Kany Garcia and Camila. Special awards was given to Juanes whose humanitarian work with Mi Angre foundation made him honored with the Spirit of Hope Awards.
Video Premiere: Daddy Yankee's 'Somos De Calle'
March 04, 2008 02:03:03A new joint from Daddy Yankee has been released. The Reggaeton dropped the music video of "Somos De Calle" that is used as the soundtrack to his 2007 film, "Talento de Barrio".
The video was directed by Giorgie Rivera and takes set in the 1990. The title of the movie is often referenced in the clip. "Somos De Calle" along with other tracks used in the movie like "Impacto (Remix)", "La Fuga" and "Solido", will appear on album "Talento De Barrio Soundtrack" which will be released later this month.
Daddy Yankee Sued for Infringement of Copyright

Raggaeton Daddy Yankee is being sued for a copyright infringement over a three-year old track that was included in his 'Barrio Fino' album. Latin songwriter and singer Victor M. Lopez, Jr. claimed that 'Salud y Vida' had used his composition but he hasn't got a single penny since its publishing.
In the Californian lawsuit, Daddy Yankee as the artist is facing the case together with the record companies that distribute the music like Universal Music Latino and Interscope as well as Yankee's El Cartel label.

Feels delighted to have signed a deal with the sportswear giants and is proud they chose a Latin musician to make history with, the star said, "It's the first time in history that Reebok has used a celebrity to promote their custom sneakers, and I feel very blessed that they picked a real Latino. Daddy Yankee's 2007 Tour Across US & Latin America

After announcing the release date of "The Cartel: The Big Boss", Daddy Yankee does what most musicians would also do, touring to support the album. He will visit 40 cities all over US and in of course, Latin America.
The reggaeton will start hitting the stage on August 31 in Chicago and visit other cities such as Miami, Phoenix, Las Vegas, Fresno and Dallas before wrapping up in Houston on October 31. Before this leg of tour, the singer will have two warm-up concerts in Puerto Rico and Dominican Republic which dates have not been announced. After the US leg, there will be more than 20 dates across Mexico, and South America that run through early December.

Puerto Rican Reggaeton Daddy Yankee is up for a new release of album. Titled "El Cartel: The Big Boss", the album is his eight and most artists-packed.
Daddy Yankee said this record could be his best and can be very potential in the market. This came as the result of tying other artists to either produce or collaborate. To name a few, there are Akon, Stacy Ferguson aka Fergie and will.i.am of Black Eyed Peas and The Pussycat Dolls's Nicole Scherzinger.

A crowd of some 10,000 packed the Palacio de los Deportes Thursday night Oct 19th for the 2006 MTV Video Music Awards Latin America. Those handful people saw the winning of successful Mexican singer and songwriter Julieta Venegas who took home the Best Performer award.
The Grammy winning singer was actually nominated for five other categories, including Best Video, Artist of the Year and Song of the Year among others. Unfortunately she only won one. Aside, Colombian rock singer-songwriter Juanes won the Best Artist-Central award. Also there was the likes of Robbie Williams who nabbed the Best Pop International award, and My Chemical Romance who was handed the Best Rock International award.

The time has come and here it is Don Omar gladly presents "King of Kings" tour. The reggaeton superstar launches the U.S. theater tour October 13 in Atlanta.
Omar, best known for his songs "Dile" and "Dale Don Dale", will play 17 U.S. cities, as well as three dates at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico in San Juan.

Marc Anthony and Andy Garcia were among the many honorees at this year's ALMA Awards held Sunday May 7th, 2006. While Anthony received the Celia Cruz Award for Excellence in Music, Garcia brought home the Anthony Quinn Award for Excellence in Motion Pictures.
Also were honored at the event, which celebrated achievements by Hispanic artists from the worlds of music, television and film, among others were Shakira who was honored the Outstanding Musical Performer and Best Spanish Album awards, and Daddy Yankee who was named Outstanding Musical Performer.

Colombian pop music star Shakira was the top winner at this year Billboard Latin Music Awards held Thursday April 27th, 2006. The beauty led the night event with five trophies all at once, four of which were Hot Latin Song Of The Year; Hot Latin Song Of The Year, Vocal Duet; Latin Pop Airplay Song Of The Year, Duo or Group; and Latin Ringtone Of The Year for "La Tortura" which she shared with Alejandro Sanz, while the other one was for Latin Pop Album Of The Year, Female thanks "Fijacion Oral Vol. 1".
Among some other winners was Juanes who brought home the Hot Latin Songs Artist of the Year, Latin Pop Airplay Song Of The Year, Male for "La Camisa Negra", and Songwriter Of The Year award, Reyli who won the category of Latin Pop Album of the Year, Male for "En La Luna", and RBD who nabbed two awards of Latin Pop Album Of The Year, Duo or Group and Latin Pop Album Of The Year, New Artist both for "Rebelde". Leading the nominees is Puerto Rican reggaeton sensation Daddy Yankee who grabs 10 nominations, including that of Artist Of The Year, Hot Latin Songs Artist and Songwriter Of The Year.
Following close behind with nine nominations is Mexico's pop group RBD, which is soon followed by Shakira with eight nominations. After all there is Juanes and Puerto Rican artist Olga Tanon with five nominations each. The awards will be handed out in Miami and be broadcast live on Telemundo. The two musicians equally picked six awards each. As of Green Day, it was named Album Group of the Year, Pop Group of the Year, Hot 100 Group of the Year, Rock Artist of the Year, Modern Rock Artist of the Year, and Rock Song of the Year for their "Boulevard of Broken Dreams."
Meanwhile, 50 Cent brought home the awards for Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, Hot 100 Artist of the Year, R&B/Hip-Hop Artist of the Year, Rap Artist of the Year, and Ring tone of the Year for his "Candy Shop" featuring Olivia. Other big winner at the prestigious event was pop diva Mariah Carey who was honored Female Album Artist of the Year, Female R&B/Hip-Hop Artist of the Year, Hot 100 Song of the Year for "We Belong Together," Hot 100 Airplay of the Year and Rhythmic Top 40 Title of the Year, both for the same song.
People En Espanol's 'Star of the Year' Is Paulina
November 02, 2005 10:11:36People En Espanol's 'Star of the Year' is the 'golden girl' Paulina Rubio. The Mexican pop star bests finalists Daddy Yankee, Shakira, Juanes and Barbara Mori, to be on the cover of the magazine's latest issue, on newsstands Monday.
Speaking on their reason to choose Paulina, the magazine simply explained "The truth is that `The Golden Girl' is someone who combines talent, charisma and success, and nobody can deny that. Everybody wants to know what Pau is doing and where she is."
