Duffy Set as Opening Act on Coldplay's Tour
August 22, 2008 04:08:47This fall, Duffy will travel with Coldplay to north America in support of the band's world tour. She will open the band's gig and use the opportunity to promote her debut album called "Rockferry" which was already released in March.
The "Mercy" singer will also start kicking off her own major gigs in San Diego on October 9. She will then continue performing in Los Angeles, Vancouver, Seattle, and Chicago before joining Coldplay on stage in Cleveland, New Jersey, Boston, Washington DC, and Philadelphia.

The teen singer has recently revealed her huge admiration for the British band frontman Chris Martin. The Daily Express quoted her, as saying, "My ideal man is a 16-year-old Chris Martin. But my mom says I have terrible taste!"
As Miley's statement goes spreading to the media, Chris reveals that the admiration is mutual and they actually admire each other. "I like Miley. She seems to have a sweet character, anyone we like or respect, no matter how different they may be, we would play with," Chris says in a statement.

Speaking of them, he says during an interview, "I've mellowed, but not in the sense of liking Radiohead or Coldplay. I don't hate them. I don't wish they had accidents. I think their fans are boring and ugly and they don't look like they're having a good time." Meanwhile, when asked about his taste of music, Liam admits that he doesn't like contemporary bands and prefers older bands. He says, "I play The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Kinks, Neil Young, Sex Pistols. Maybe a bit of The Stone Roses. Don't like modern bands. Topman music, innit?"
Sex Pistols Plan New LP, Diss Coldplay

The news was hinted out by the band's lead singer, Johnny Rotten, in an interview with the press at the band's latest gig on Saturday, June 14 at the Isle Of Wight Festival.
Speaking about the band's plan to release a new LP, Johnny said, "There could be a new record. That would be nice." Moreover, he also explained that the band won't be rushing in making the new album stating, "But I won't do anything in a patronising way. The music, the subject and the attitude all have to be right at the same time. Everything has to be from the heart."
Jay-Z Headlines 1st Pemberton Fest With NIN and Coldplay

Among the numerous acts on the bill Jay-Z, Coldplay, Nine Inch Nails, Serj Tankian and Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers are announced as the headliners.
According to Billboard.com, the festival is part of Live Nation's production with Good Boy Productions. The latter is the joint venture between Coldplay manager Dave Holmes and Depeche Mode manager Jonathan Kessler. There will be two stages set up to contain more than 50 acts plus a dance stage.

Moderate popularity seems to be a better option this time for James Blunt as his claim to fame hit 'You're Beautiful' tops another infamous chart. The single that went #1 on most countries' chart has been listed at #1 for songs that used to be enjoyed but now makes people want to hurt others.
A poll was gathered by RollingStones.com's Rock List column and Blunt's hit beat Black Eyed Peas' 'My Hump' and Smash Mouth's 'All Star'. The songs that are considerably new are followed in the fourth and fifth post with old pieces 'Don't Worry be Happy' by Bobby McFerrin and 'YMCA' by Village People respectively.

R&B crooner Amerie thinks it will be fun to have a collaboration with rock acts The Killers and Coldplay, and she's serious about it. In the coming months she will try to reschedule her brief meeting with Coldplay's frontman Chris Martin.
"I'm a big fan of The Killers. I'd love to do something with them, and Coldplay," Amerie told the Daily Star. "I was due to hook up with Chris Martin a while back but then his baby was born. Hopefully we'll reschedule."

WWE & Lionsgate Reach Deal Over "The Condemned"

"The Condemned" will soon come up on cinema as World Wrestling Entertainment and Lionsgate have reached a deal over its production. And so, the studio is about to start shooting the flick May 15 in Australia.
Of drama genre, "The Condemned" will star Stone Cold Steve Austin and Vinnie Jones, with Scott Wiper in hand directing. Per Variety, Austin is set to play a man on death row in a corrupt Central American prison. He's "purchased" by a wealthy TV producer, who pits him and nine other condemned men in a battle to the death.

In a poll conducted by music channel VH1, Irish rock band U2 has its 1992 song "One" credited as Britain's Favorite Lyric thanks to its line "One life, with each other, sisters, brothers". Elsewhere, chosen as the 2nd Britain's Favorite Lyric is The Smiths' "How Soon is Now" of which line reading "So you go and you stand on your own, and you leave on your own, and you go home, and you cry, and you want to die".
Debut at No. 3 on the poll is Nirvana's "I feel stupid and contagious, here we are now, entertain us" from its "Smells Like Teen Spirit". Take the 4th place is Bob Marley's "Redemption Song", while Coldplay's "Yellow" secures the 5th place. Rounding out the Top 10 on the poll is Robbie Williams' uplifting "Angels" and Radiohead's sour "Creep."

This year Juno, Canada's music awards, held Sunday April 2nd, 2006 has been dominated by Vancouver crooner Michael Buble. The singer takes four trophies all at once, which among others are for Best Singer, Album, Artist and Pop Album Of The Year for "It's Time".
Other big winners at the prestigious event include Alberta rock band Nickelback, which is nominated for six Junos but only manages to grab two mainly for Best Group and Best Rock Album for "All The Right Reasons."
