Nominees of 2009 Gotham Awards Announced
October 20, 2009 02:10:37On Monday, October 19, the Independent Filmmaker Project has announced the nominees for the 19th Annual Gotham Independent Film Awards, unraveling the dominance of "The Hurt Locker" and "Big Fan". Both feature films received the most nominations with three gongs each, and will battle it out in two categories, Best Feature and Breakthrough Actor.
In the Best Feature category, the two are up against Cherien Dabis' "Amreeka", Sebastian Silva's "The Maid" and the Coen brothers' "A Serious Man". As for the actor title, "Hurt Locker" enlisted Jeremy Renner and "Big Fan" put Patton Oswalt in competition with Ben Foster, Catalina Saavedra and Soulemane Sy Savane.
Lady GaGa Leads 2009 MTV Europe Music Awards Noms
September 22, 2009 10:09:30Those acts crowding the nominations list of MTV Europe Music Awards this year have been unearthed with U.S. artists in domination. One in particular is Lady GaGa who has made her triumph at recent MTV Video Music Awards. The "Just Dance" singer is taking five nominations, the same amount that Kings of Leon grab.
GaGa is placed under Best Song category for "Poker Face", Best Live Act and Best Female among others. In all three categories, she has to battle them out with Beyonce Knowles who puts up front her single "Halo". Beyonce herself is up for four nominations, one in Best Video for "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)".

Out of the nine nominations Beyonce and Lady GaGa received, eight of them have the two female singers facing off against each other. Beyonce competes against Lady GaGa in such categories as Video of the Year, Best Female Video, Best Pop Video, Best Direction, Best Editing, Best Special Effects, Best Cinematography and Art Direction.

Putting on a Geisha make-up and sporting white clothes, she, in addition, was interviewed by the radio's host Edith Bowman. Released through Ethelmae's Blog, the three brand new pictures from the set of the action adventure movie exhibit four of the film's cast members, Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Eric Roberts and Stone Cold Steve Austin.
One of the pictures shows Roberts and Austin leaping off side by side in the air to avoid the huge explosion to their left. Meanwhile, another photo displays Stallone's character Barney Ross running amidst the smoke with a gun on his hand. The last image gives out Stallone walking together with Statham.

Pearl Jam's Songs to Be Featured in CBS' 'Cold Case'
March 19, 2009 03:03:19Sixteen songs from Pearl Jam will be exclusively featured during the two-part sixth season finale episodes of "Cold Case". Their songs will be featured during the airing of the CBS' TV show starring Kathryn Morris on Sunday, May 3 and Sunday, May 10 at 9:00 - 10:00 P.M. ET/PT.
In the episodes, titled "The Long Blue Line" and "Into the Blue", Pearl Jam's music will be used to tell the story of a female cadet who was murdered at a military academy in 2005. Some of the band's songs to be used in the TV series will be lifted from the band's 1991 debut studio album "Ten". The songs, however, are yet to be determined.

Films In Competition of 2009 Sundance Film Festival Announced

Among the wide-ranging list of more than 60 movies selected for the competitions are Lee Daniels-directed Harlem drama "Push (2009/II)", Pierce Brosnan-starrer family drama "The Greatest", Lone Scherfig's "An Education" and Max Mayer's romantic drama "Adam".
Commenting on this year's selections, Sundance Film Festival's director Geoffrey Gilmore said, "This year's films are not narrowly defined. Instead we have a blurring of genres, a crossing of boundaries: geographic, generational, socio-economic and the like." He then added "The result is both an exhilarating and emotive Festival in which traditional mythologies are suspended, discoveries are made, and creative storytelling is embraced."
Girls Aloud to Open Coldplay's Wembley Show, Tentatively

Jay-Z Headlines 1st Pemberton Fest With NIN and Coldplay

WWE & Lionsgate Reach Deal Over "The Condemned"

"The Condemned" will soon come up on cinema as World Wrestling Entertainment and Lionsgate have reached a deal over its production. And so, the studio is about to start shooting the flick May 15 in Australia.
Of drama genre, "The Condemned" will star Stone Cold Steve Austin and Vinnie Jones, with Scott Wiper in hand directing. Per Variety, Austin is set to play a man on death row in a corrupt Central American prison. He's "purchased" by a wealthy TV producer, who pits him and nine other condemned men in a battle to the death.

Elsewhere, chosen as the 2nd Britain's Favorite Lyric is The Smiths' "How Soon is Now" of which line reading "So you go and you stand on your own, and you leave on your own, and you go home, and you cry, and you want to die".
Debut at No. 3 on the poll is Nirvana's "I feel stupid and contagious, here we are now, entertain us" from its "Smells Like Teen Spirit".
