New Presenters Added to 60th Primetime Emmy Awards
September 05, 2008 04:09:52Another batch of presenters are announced in anticipation of the upcoming Primetime Emmy Awards. Among the new names lined-up for the TV appreciation event are "My Own Worst Enemy" star Christian Slater, TV host Conan O'Brien, and Kate Walsh of "Private Practice".
On top of all the names mentioned, there will also be paired appearances by comedians Kathy Griffin and Don Rickles as well as TV stars Neil Patrick Harris and Kristin Chenoweth. The latter couple had been tapped to announce the nominees of the awards back in July.

Christian Slater is heading for the West End, about to take the lead in "Swimming with Sharks," which is Michael Lesslie's play adapted from the 1994 black comedy/drama film of the same title that starred Kevin Spacey as the lead role.
Slater, who was last seen on the London stage in "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" in 2006, will play the role of Buddy Ackerman, a Hollywood movie mogul and the boss from hell, who ends up being taken hostage by his long-suffering assistant.

There it is, nearly three years after Christian Slater separated from his estranged wife Ryan Haddon and nearly two years after announcing their split, the couple finally has their divorce finalized. The Los Angeles Superior Court documents listed November 21st as the official divorce date.
Slater and Haddon tied the knot on Valentine's Day in 2000 and have two children, five-year-old Eliana Sophia and Jaden Zach Haddon-Slater who is now seven. The actor originally filed the petition in February 2005, citing "irreconcilable differences".

Making an on-screen collaboration for the first time, Christian Slater and Elle Fanning have both given agreement to star in "Gideon's Gift", a film adaptation of Karen Kingsbury's novel of the same name from her Red Glove series.
Slated to start the production early February in Albuquerque, New Mexico, the project sees Slater portray Big Earl Gibson who abandons his belief in God after losing both his wife and daughter. An eight-year-old leukemia patient named Gideon Mercer, played by Fanning, is determined to reach out to him, but the man seems to just as determined to rebuff her instead.

In the refiled divorce documents placed on Friday, February 10 in Superior Court, he also reveals an intention to divide property under a written agreement between himself and Haddon.
Slater first filed divorce papers in February last year after five years togetherness, stating that he and Haddon had separated on January 5, 2005. However, the separation date later was changed to January 1, 2004 in the new papers.

It was all began when Slater and his girlfriend were arguing at a small grocery store on Manhattan's Upper East Side early Tuesday, when an unidentified woman was buying a soda in the store and the 35-year-old actor abruptly walked up behind her and grabbed her bottom.
Soon then, the victim called police and identified Slater, who was arrested shortly after 2:00am local time, in Manhattan's Upper East Side. Entered no plea when he appeared in court, the actor was given a July 14 court date and left silently.

January 25, 2005 09:01:59American actor, Christian Slater (35) had encountered a knife attack after his stage performance of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest outside London's West End theater Friday night. Media reported that Slater's bodyguard who took the brunt of the attack didn't hurt because the knife only penetrated his cloth and that both could then escape without any serious injury.
A Scotland Yard spokeswoman said that police, who were called to Shaftesbury Avenue in the heart of London's theaterland at 11 p.m. Friday evening, had recoverd a knife in the scene which later on will be one evidence for them to investigate the case.
