Cat Power Announces U.S. Tour for 'Jukebox'
February 20, 2008 11:02:22Chan Marshall aka Cat Power will embark in a tour to support her latest release, "Jukebox". She will be down the road starting from April 10 in Vancouver and visit ten other cities in the Pacific Northwest and Southwest area.
So far only 11 dates have been mapped out with French/British electro-pop duo Appaloosa in the supporting act slot. However, she will do a warm up show on February 29 at Los Angeles' Wiltern Theater.
Cat Power Unveils Second Cover Album Tracklisting
October 17, 2007 04:10:38Previously keeping the tracks a secret, Cat Power finally unveils the songs that she has covered for her second cover album. Twelve tracks will be included in the album that is titled 'Jukebox'.
The previously reported new song 'Song for Bobby' and her refreshed original song 'Metal Heart' will be topped by songs from James Brown, Billie Holiday and her favorite artist Bob Dylan.

Minimalist singer Cat Power has changed the name of her second cover album to 'Jukebox'. It was previously titled 'Covers 2'.
According to NME.com, the singer whose real name is Chan Marshall, will also include a new version of her song 'Metal Heart' that appeared on her fourth album 'Moon Pix' and the soundtrack of 1998 movie 'Desert Blue'.

Cat Power will on January 22 release a new album titled 'Covers 2'. The new album will be the follow up to 2000's 'The Covers Record' that compiles her rendition of popular songs by renown musicians such as Bob Dylan, Lou Reed and Mick Jagger.
The tracklisting of the second cover album is yet to be determined, but it's known that her long time-collaborator Dirty Delta Blues Band will back her up in some of the tracks.

After the success of 2000's 'The Covers Record', Cat Power has decided to do another as her eight studio album. Although not necessarily spilling any hints on whose work she may touch up, Cat promised that 24 songs are already waiting to make the cut.
Written on her MySpace blog is: "Got message to mention next record, comes out January, sorry far away, 24 covers to choose from.. mixin record next week in Dallas with Stuart Sikes. It's gonna be called, duh, Covers Record 2. With so many covers tryin to decide if i should release COVERS RECORD 2 VOL.2 ???" Then she added, "I'll be playing with the new band around towns before January."

Grammy winning songwriter Jesse Harris has compiled a list of soundtracks that will be performed by artists like Norah Jones, Cat Power, Bright Eyes, Black Keys, Emmylou Harris and Willie Nelson.
The record that earmarks all of the music in support of Ethan Hawke-directed movie "The Hottest State" will arrive August 7 via Hickory Records.

The Shortlist Music Prize has downsized the nominated albums up to mere ten. The 2006 albums that stands the chance are coming from Cat Power, Band of Horses, Beirut, Bonnie Prince Billy, Girl Talk, Hot Chip, Joanna Newsom, Regina Spektor, Spank Rock and Tom Waits.
These finalists are the ones thought to be potentially 'creative and adventurous' this year. They are selected after a hefty list of 60 others such as Franz Ferdinand, KT Tunstall, Panic! At the Disco, 2005's winner Sufjan Stevens and many others. Co-founder Greg Spotts said, "This is the year of the storyteller. More than half of our ten finalists are wordsmiths who create unique characters and narratives, interpreting our complex world in new ways."
