Blur Reunite on the Stage of Shockwaves NME Awards
February 26, 2009 03:02:24For the first time in years, Damon Albarn and Graham Coxon were on the stage together. It has been nearly a decade since the break up of their band Blur, but both musicians made up to it on the stage of Shockwaves NME Awards which was held at London's Brixton Academy on Wednesday, February 25.
Although missing the other two personnel, Alex James and Dave Rowntree, the performance was a surprise to the audience since it was not announced in prior. Albarn on the piano and Coxon on the guitar, they performed an acoustic piece of "This is a Low" which can be found on their 1994 album "Parklife". After the set, Albarn and Coxon left the stage arm in arm.
Blur Expected to Announce Reunion for Glastonbury
December 09, 2008 01:12:53Talks on Blur reuniting for next year's Glastonbury have been rive but they have never been as close as a confirmation. The Sun is reporting that the British band that made their fame in the '90s, will announce a confirmation of their reunion later today, December 9.
Two of the things in their agenda would be the June festival, Glastonbury, and their own show at London's Hyde Park the following month. This year's Glastonbury is set on June 24 to June 29. Confirmed acts include Franz Ferdinand and The Ting Tings while the rumored ones include Kanye West and Bruce Springsteen.
Blur and Oasis Team Up to Create Their Own Brand of Cheese
January 31, 2008 03:01:38No joke, Blur and Oasis are mad about cheese. The two music groups that spent most of the 1990s feuding and battling for chart position are now teaming up to create their very own brand of cheese.
Apparently Blur bass player Alex James, who is now a dairy farmer and cheese maker, has invited band mate Damon Albarn to join Noel Gallagher and Liam Gallagher from the band Oasis to come into his Cotswolds cheese factory so they can start working on a special cheese.
Blur Confirm a Reunion and a Studio Work Schedule
September 11, 2007 01:09:03
Finally, a definite reunion will fall upon Blur, a band that helped reviving the second Britpop invasion after The Beatles. Bassist Alex James has confirmed a studio work will take place in October and said that "it's looking promising".
"Funnily enough, people have been talking to each other. I don't think Graham (Coxon) and Dave (Rowntree) have spoken for quite some time and there's been a flurry of texting and long chats which is good. I'm very hopeful," James told BBC.
Blur Heading to Studio in September
July 14, 2007 01:07:19
Another confirmation of Blur's reunion is brought to subject. Drummer Dave Rowntree revealed that four original members including Graham Coxon who made his exit in 2002 are on the same ship to record their new album.
Rowntree hinted that they will enter the studio this September. He told NME.com, "There is a week in the diary in September. But it's a very small thing--it could either be a seed or a full-stop."
Damon Albarn Despised 2 Blur's Albums, Went on with Kaiser Chief's
May 14, 2007 01:05:16
Damon Albarn made a statement regarding his disappointment towards Blur's two works. The vocalist who is also behind virtual band Gorillaz thinks that Blur's first and fourth albums are total flops.
"I've made hundreds of mistakes. I've made two bad records. The first record, which is awful, and The Great Escape, which was messy," said Albarn referring to 1991's "Leisure" and 1995's "The Great Escape".
Blur on Speaking Term, 'Entered' Studio
May 01, 2007 03:05:05
No more rumors on Blur's reunion. The band has decided to give it a try anyway. Together with the three remaining members, guitarist Graham Coxon who quit in 2002 has agreed to enter the studio this summer.
The come out from this studio trial will decide whether there will be a true reunion or not. "We're all heading into the studio together this summer. Graham's coming too. We're gonna see if we've still got it. If not, I think we'll just call it a day," said bassits Alex James.
Another Hint of Blur's Reunion
April 19, 2007 03:04:11
Abruptly stopped making music in late 2003, Blur has sparked another rumor of reunion. Triggered by the involvement of drummer Dave Rowntree's involvement in politic, bassist Alex James explained that there is a need to be working together again.
James wrote in his The Independent column, "It's good that everyone seems to have found their own niche outside of Blur and, ironically, Dave's second coming as a politician is more likely to reunite us than anything. We'd all grown to resent the fact that we needed each other and now that we no longer seem to, we can face each other again...".
Blur Drummer Busy Completing "Empire Square"
April 11, 2006 04:04:11
Dave Rowntree, the drummer for English rock group Blur, has another activity beyond music. Coincide with his band's unclear future plans, the man gives hand at designing animated comedy show.
Rowntree reportedly is working exclusively behind the scenes for the so-called "Empire Square", guiding the "creative process" and helping direct the voice talent who power the three main characters: the attitudinally maladjusted "Richie," the streetwise "Hooks" and the geek, "Rabbit."
