The "Artichoke King" Is William Hung
May 19, 2006 02:05:45
Not successfully managed to be an American Idol, William Hung at least still has something to proud of. The man is being crowned "Artichoke King" in the small city that calls itself "artichoke capital of the world."
The crowning, in fact, places him in line with Marilyn Monroe who was the first "Artichoke Queen" at the 1947 Castroville Artichoke Festival. And such attainment obviously leads Hung to ride in parade Sunday May 21st, during which he will perform new versions of The Beach Boys' "Surfin' USA" and the Billy Ray Cyrus line-dancing anthem "Achy Breaky Heart."

Beach Boys Monument, Target of Vandals
June 20, 2005 09:06:32Beach Boys' newly built monument, placed in California, has becoming the target of graffiti vandals. This obviously disappointed many, one of them is Harry Jarnagan, the Tracy construction engineer who led the drive to build the memorial dedicated May 21.
In order to prevent something worse, city quickly removed paint scrawled on the 119th Street monument and officials were considering a variety of security measures, like surveillance cameras, a fence or sealing it with a graffiti-resistant coating. In an attempt to do so, Mayor Larry Guidi said he plans to meet officials from a company that provides Internet-based surveillance cameras that could help protect structures on city property, including the monument.
Beach Boys' Wonderful Monument
May 23, 2005 10:05:56Two of its members have died and they aren't as productive as they used to be, but the legendary Beach Boys want to keep the memory of them remains in fans heart. Thus, they have on Friday unveiled a state historical landmark in California, a place where they actually come from.
Hundreds of fans joined the band's three members, Al Jardine, Brian Wilson, and David Marks, to mark the opening of the landmark, which idea is uttered by a fan of them named Harry Jarnagan. In realisation of the landmark, it eventually gained the support of the musicians themselves and local politicians.
